Blowing nose at the wheel!

Post: # 185770Post Rtrak »

Although I'm not in the UK I still get the UK television on a good day and if I've got electricity! Watching the UK news I saw that a guy was being prosecuted for the heanous crime of 'blowing his nose at the wheel'. Oh I thought, he was probably doing 100mph + on the motorway, swerving dangerously all over the road? Strangeley enough, no, he was sitting at the end of a queue waiting at traffic lights, in neutral with his handbrake on. Apparently the charge was that he wasn't in charge of his vehicle! Surely had he not blown at this 'convenient & safe' time, he could have been in far less control of his vehicle had the contents of his nose exited of their own accord, possibly in a 'random and uncontrolled' manner?

There are times when it's difficult over here, that I wonder why I bothered, when I see articles like that everything becomes a little easier!

That pretty much summed up my thoughts when I read it on the BBC news site. There really is no rational explanation for it, is there?

It's ridiculous, given that you'd be far less 'in control of your car' if you had a load of snot streaming down your face whilst driving and you couldn't do anything about it!

all symptomatic of our totally weird society - i have been on about a dangerous junction to the council , where a LOT of motorists come haring off a main road - never indicate and people crossing are in danger - any thing done ?? - nope - some erk in an office considers " it not to present a sufficient hazard to warrant action " - guess we will just have to wait till some one gets injured or killed to warrant that eh ?? :angryfire:

but blowing your nose - vehicle stationary - with hand break applied - warrants a summons + a few points - duh oh - by that reckoning then even coppers sitting at the side of the road should NEVER take both hands off the wheel - usual old story - one law for us - one for the rest

i wonder if that had been someone "known to the public" they would have got done ????? -

the world just get weirder - truly it does - what next - nicked for not being in charge of your vehicle when its locked up in the garage ??
the validity of ones ideas are best measured by the resistance they attract

and if enough people tell you are WRONG - do it ANYWAY !!

Makes complete sense to me.

When are these irresponsible drivers going to learn - if you're going to drive, then don't blow! Better still, leave your nose at home.

Loved the 'snot streaming down the front of your face' bit leaves nothing whatsoever to the imagination. Thought this thread might provoke a response! Sorry for any typos, read my thread 'Water Mine' & you'll know why!

Oh Man! That is hysterical. I love it.

My man was once charged with improper control of a vehicle. He was doing wheelies on his motorbike. He tried to argue that wheelies meant he had MORE control of the vehicle. I said to him, "Now's not the time to argue honey." But for a blow? I mean, nose blow? Seriously?

Yes, Oldfella, it's an ironic joke.

I find the whole thing typical of our current sad society being run by small people with no brains. If I can't crack jokes, I'll go mad.

Your man sounds a bit like a mate of mine. He was caught driving home from the pub after an all day session. Before the ensuing court appearance his solicitor said she hoped to argue for just a 12 month ban. 'Ban' he said, 'being able to drive with that much drink I should get an advanced motorist award'. Needless to say she didn't pursue that line in court.

Judge, "PC Plod please tell the court why you arrested the two prisoners,

PC Plod, " Well Sir, I was preceding down the high street in a westerly direction, when I noticed the accused sitting in his car with both hands on the wheel and a stupid look on his face, so I approached the car and and saw his wife with her hand in his trousers pocket, fumbling around, when I said that I would be arresting them for an act of obscenity in a public place, she explained that as her husband needed to have full control of the car she was searching his pocket for his handkerchief, I stepped back from the car door to ponder this matter, and that is when the other prisoner molested me"

Judge,. " Please tell the court what happen when you stepped back from the
car"

PC Plod, "Well Sir as I stepped back from the car I felt a hand rub my left buttock, and a voice say "Wana f§§k", when I turned around I saw the other accused laying on his back, beside his bicycle, so I arrested him for soliciting for sex.

Judge, "I see, on the first charge maybe the prisoner could explain the stupid look on his face?

Prisoner, "Sir, Her hand was bl@@dy freezing.

Judge, " On the 2ND charge of soliciting for sex what has prisoner 2 have to say to that?.

Prisoner 2. " Well guv here I was riding me bike down the road when this fatarrsed pillock stepped out in front of me and my handlebars and hand run into him and when I asked him in the queens English Wot the F§§k he was doing, he arrested me.

Well if you don't try and see the funny side you go STARK STAREING MADDDDDDD
