actually I would highly recomend the elder flower champagne I have just had part of the last bottle and it gets beter with age.
If you plan the ciderish, use less sugar - another thing that I need to update, the final drink with that recipe is more like vermouth, but if you like vermouth then give it a whirl.
welcome to the site fee.

G'day sport, we've just cracked another keg of homebrew so you're welcome to join us in a virtual elbow bending session. Cheers, don't mind if I do.the.fee.fairy wrote:Oh...you need beer made?

Glug, glug, glug, glug, glug, glug, glug... urp! 'Scuse me.
Hmm, not bad. Now for another four gallons...
Anyway, welcome to the forum. You'll find quite a few brewers here - my current batches include barley wine, stout, cider, ginger beer, and beetroot beer with nettle beer just around the corner.

Wow! I',m not used to so many responses on other forums.
What a friendly lot you all seem to be!
Right...i'll need to find some Elderflowers. Do they come wild? Or are there poisonous lookalikes out there?
Um...and what do they look like/when can i find them etc.
I'm a bit new to all this.
Got to get new bottles for the beer - the ones i had had a manufacturing fault - the lids wouldn't go on. I took them back to the shop and the nam was really rude, so i won't buy from them anymore! Its a shame, it means i'll have to find another supplier. So, any reccommendations in the UK for bottle suppliers?
Nice to meet you all!
I'm off to make slug traps - the little *things* have eaten my sunflowers....

The answer is to the slug problem is probably to plant lots of sunflowers! As far as the beer bottle thing goes, it's been a long time since I last did homebrewing but I just used to collect suitable bottles from parties that would work with my crown corking device. As I was a student at the time, that wasn't too difficult!

Ask on freecycle (www.freecycle.org and then find the one nearest to you) - we just handed over a box full of empty beer bottles to Stonehead.... Should I confess that we still have some left... sound like a right bunch of alcoholics in our house.
