The real old timers might remember me - I was a regular visitor a couple of years ago. But over-work, divorce and a house move forced me off the internet!
Now that I am settling into single parenthood on a proper frugal lifestyle I am just re-developing an interest in all things green, thrifty and self-sufficient(ish). Indeed, I was reading an old copy of the Penny Pincher's Book (and oldie but goodie) and found a bookmark beautifully made by one of the forum members here about 3 years ago as a secret santa. Who was that? It is embroidered with the words 'Grow, Cook, Eat' and lots of lovely little pix.
I have a reasonably sized garden in my new rented house that I am trying to keep on top of. I haven't asked the landlord if I can dig it up for a veggie patch (yet), but I am enjoying growing lots of herbs, pumpkins and courgettes in growbags, tomatoes in hanging baskets and lots of flowers. I couldn't bring my chickens with me, as landlords just don't want you with livestock! However, I remain Chickenlady with a growing collection of chicken ornaments from my local bootsales.
I am delighted to see this forum is still a mine of interesting and useful information and look forward to trawling through it all.

Hi chickenlady, welcome back
Sounds like you've had a tough time - glad things are setting and you've come back
