The It's Not Easy Being Green lot have started up a forum... actually it's definitely worth a look but they've already topped our 'most users online' record.....

Did anyone record the series btw? I missed a few of them and only half watched the last episode last night.

It's quality that counts, not quantity.

too right Ina and we are all of the finest quality here

I think there is plenty of room for another forum and I think that they are coming from a rather different angle than we are, will have nip and look and perhaps make a few posts about this forum

I saw that Dick Strawbridge at the weekend he was in Bristol at a sustainable housing show type thing. He was surrounded by sicophants and I did not want to be another so I just wore my ssish t-shirt near him

Too right Andy, this forum is hard to beat. Friendly, like minded folks who are very friendly indeed!

I wear my SSF shirt with pride.....even though it's more like a dress!

this place it is the best - just the right 'size' and friendly. Everyone sort of knows everyone else and its relaxed.

Other 'self sufficiency' forums scare the hell out of me and i havent even been on the NEBG one yet!! or even found it...shirl??

I spent two days searching for a forum like this one and this is the only one that appealed to me. It would be excess and wasteful for me to commit to another forum. :)

had a look, and decided against "joining in" - the word has already been used - sycophants - ankle deep in them!
I thoroughly enjoyed the series, and hope it helps get the message out to more people - I admired his "just do it" philosophy, and in my experience did some damn good research (we use one of the companies he chose for solar heating panels and wind turbines), BUT he has very obviously "maximised the potential" of the series ....I'm interested in biodiesel for instance - how do I find out the details? - buy the book @ £18.99, or go on one of his undoubtedly excellent courses for nearly £200 - personally, I'd sooner have had rather less of his genuinely delightful family's cavortings, and more "meat" - details of biodiesel production, HOW he wired the water pumping system etc.......but then that wouldn't sell many books/courses
ps, I have come to similar conclusions on choice of equipment/suppliers for most things he covered, but am EXTREMELY sceptical as to the actual performance of the turbine he fitted in the last episode - when he analyses the results, I fear he will find it sadly lacking...........
http://solarwind.org.uk - a small company in Sussex sourcing, supplying, and fitting alternative energy products.
Amateurs encouraged - very keen prices and friendly helpful service!

Yeah, we're all to have a good weekend. I will, glug, glug, cheers! :drunken:

Definitely better off here, more friendly and international. They all seem very serious.
