Water Tank

Post: # 20328Post Wombat »

Well, our new plastic 5675 litre water tank has arrived  ! All I have to do now is install it and plumb it in and once that is done all I will need is the rain to fill it! It is still MIGHTY dry in these parts!

I am going to put it in the front yard. next to the house and under the mulberry tree. It will more than double our current water storage capacity.

good on you with your new water tank. give you something to do over the weekend  . No chance of scaring the rain away by getting it installed (there is none here either)
We have only had 82 mm this year. local council have woken to the fact there is a drought and are publisising the drop in the dam levels. talk to people in town and the reply is usually 'what drought'.
next door neighbour who has a heifer and a horse have the who place down to dirt (maybe a 5% cover of grass) they usually ask another neighbour to either slash or put his cows in there for a couple of days to lower the grass levels.

And here they are thinking (down south, that is) of extending the hosepipe ban in some areas to include washing cars and filling private swimming pools... If they'd all just stop wasting water in everyday life, they wouldn't need to take these measures. I, for example, only wash my car once a year anyway - the day before it's due for the MOT!

(Don't know whether it was the wash, but it's just passed again. Problem is, once washed you can see all the rust.)

We've actually had quite a bit of rain over the last few days - and it was needed. Now you can see the grass grow, as it is also warm(ish).

We may have hit a snag with the tank...........

It cost us about AU$1000 and there is a rebate from the water authority of $400 but we may have to get it professionally installed to be able to apply. I don't know how much that will cost but I am going to find out.

The joys of dealing with officialdom..................I will keep you posted!
