Hi from not so sunny Ireland

Post: # 206048Post Das »

Hi all,
Just wanted to say hello
Have been meaning to join the site for a while now but have only just found the time. Myself and my other half moved to Ireland from England 4 Years ago to start a new life in the country. We have 2 acres and a very old cottage which we are trying to turn into a smallholding. Now the cottage is habitable we have started to clear the land which has been left to grow wild for the last 30 years. Its been hard work so far but very enjoyable

HI there and welcome :salute:
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hello, whereabouts are you? Your post is making me homesick, not that I'm Irish but I had a smallholding in Tipp for a few years. I love England but Ireland is probably the most beautiful place on earth...

Thanx all. Tippychooks, we are in Co Longford near the borders of Cavan and Leitrim. Have to agree, Ireland is certainly a lovely place, especially when the sun occasionally shines

Greetings from the other end of the country, where it's been sunny all day (for a change).

My Irish geography is absolutely abysmal (limited to vaguely knowing where Dublin and Belfast are  ) and it's only cos I know Tony is in the south and he says he's the other end of the country that I guess you are up in the north somewhere. Is that Northern Ireland or the Republic? Welcome!

Hi Millymollymandy
we are in the North of the Republic, about 45 mins drive to the Border and an hour and a half east of Dublin

Thank you! I do look at online maps but they don't show counties, only the county boundaries which doesn't help.

That sounds like one of the poorest excuses I've heard in a long while.

I've never heard of that website but thanks for that. I was looking at town/area names trying to remember where was that place that Irish people tell jokes about the people that come from there, and there it is..... Kerry! Obviously a county not a town.
