Wake me up when it's spring

Post: # 20565Post allthecees »

I'm off to bed now grumpy old woman that I am. Today and all week in fact has been like the midst of winter. It has been cold, dark, wet, windy and miserable. I am not worried about my runner beans being eaten by slugs and snails anymore as there aren't any runner beans left. :( I've been trying to harden off my Pumpkins before planting out and one of them just snapped in the wind. I was collecting slugs and snails from the greenhouse and as I prised a snail off the inside of the roof it came crashing down and landed straight on my little boy's watermelon plant and chopped a chunk off. I've had a rotten cold and chesty cough for a fortnight now and it is not getting any better. :pale: If I had to rely on self-sufficiency alone I would never survive as all the plants I grow get eaten! Well, enough moaning for now, I'm off to lie in a darkened room. Will somebody wake me up when it is spring? :flower:

Poor you! And it's not just been the weather that's been bugging you...

Yes, it's not exactly been springlike here, either. At least I've got a good excuse for not planting stuff out, yet! I shall have to spend the next week potting everything up, though - so that it can get nice and strong before I expose it to the elements. (Probably just at the start of autumn... :( )

Have a nice hot toddy, snuggle up under the duvet - I'll let you know when it's worth it coming out again! :flower:
