After years of planning and scheming, our plans to move to France are finally becoming reality. At the end of September we're due to sign the Acte de Vente (completion, in English terms) on a lovely house, exactly where we wanted to be in France. To say I'm excited is a bit of an understatement. I've been learning French for the past three years (I'm about to finish an OU course, which takes me to about A-level standard).
As soon as we've got the keys in our hands, we'll start to tie up things in this country. We'll both resign from work, and will hand in notice on the rented place we're in at the moment. So by mid-November, we should be in a position to make the move - permanently.
The house is lovely. It has three bedrooms, and a barn attached. It's definitely habitable as it is, but needs some tlc (and a new kitchen). OH will convert the barn into a pottery studio and will become a full-time potter. I will be a freelance editor (much as I am in this country). There's 1,5 acres of land, certified organic. It's in a beautiful place, and we know a few people in the area so I'm hoping we won't be too isolated.
And to add to the joy, my employers have just asked for volunteers for redundancy... I have no idea if they'll accept my application, but the timing of this seems just too good to be true!
Please join me in celebrating. We've worked so hard for this, and have put so many hours into trying to find a way to do it, it's difficult to believe that it's finally going to happen.
