Farewell Big Bob

Due to popular demand, here is the section to discuss everything to do with our pets. Please remember though to post any queries regarding pet livestock in the livestock section as you are more likely to get the right response there!

Farewell Big Bob

Post: # 209939Post Mrs H »

I had to take our beloved cat Bob to be put to sleep today. He was only 7 but had a massive brain tumour and has been poorly for a while. Yesterday it became obvious that he was suffering. We are all devastated.

Sleep tight Bob, love u always. Xxx

Oh I'm so sorry, we know exactly how you feel. We both love all animals especially cats and dogs. They are one of the family and the loss is immense. We have been through this more times than I care to remember. However much it hurts you have to think of all the lovely times you had together and you know that you made the right decision in letting him go. I know that no amount of words will help you now but as the days go by things will get a bit easier for you.

My sympathies too. I disgraced myself by sobbing uncontrollably when we had to take Dennis, our ginger tom.

Thanks so much for all your lovely comments. Its been a very hard few days, the tears seem to keep coming when I least expect it!! We have other cats but Bob was our 1st and very much king of the house. The place feels so empty and lonely without him. Xx

Like others have said Mrs H, our words won't make a lot of difference, just remember you did the responsible owner thing, and Big Bob is in pain no more.

We had to do this last year for our lovely Pip. Think of Big Bob's funny little habits and the feel of his fur, and remember him with love.

Oh, Mrs H I am sorry to hear that too. It is heartbreaking - our litte Phoebe was run over in August, and we were totally destraught for a week.

In fact the other day I found one of her cat biscuits under a radiator while sweeping the floor and it still wrenched my heart out! But as time goes by we have been able to look at photos of her sleeping in silly positions and remember her ridiculously loud purr with happiness instead of being sad.

Hope you will be the same soon. x
