I thought some people might like this link to some fascinating growing in a cold temperate climate, although the farm pre-dates permaculture it is fundemenatlly the same principles, it's a link to 1st of 4 videos

I saw that some time ago. Inspirational stuff. It chimes with my ideals. He uses fossil fuels as we should be using them - to create useful permanence, or at least, easily-maintainable and useful permanence. It's worth questioning his choice of location, though, and that of his neighbours.

When fossil fuels are no longer available, I wonder if the remaining humans will be angry at the vast amounts of utter tat - made using precious energy - they dig up?

Probably not, they'll be too busy fighting to survive.
