The new veg plot

Post: # 227276Post MKG »

Today, out of curiosity, I measured the area now occupied (but not for too much longer) by the old pond - the bit which is about to become our new veg plot. It's precisely 15 metres by 5 metres, which meant nothing to me at the time I measured it. But that's 75 square metres, which I now discover is three rods - the size of what passes for an allotment plot these days. Whoever planned the pond must have had prophetic powers.

It amused me a bit, so I just thought I'd tell you.

Oh alright - it's boring.

Not amusing at all, really :dontknow:

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

How could you ever be boring Mike? :dontknow: (Well except when you go into the technicalities of winemaking :? )

How many rods in a pole? And will you be dancing on it?

So are you going to use the rods for fishing in the pond??

A rod is the same as a pole, GA - and apparently the same as a perch. But then Rod Steiger was American, so that doesn't make sense. Nor does having three perches and no pond to put them in.

Perhaps if I just turned the pond upside down and grew veggies below it? A self-watering plot sounds good.

(Note to self: That last lot of elderberry is obviously a bit strange - I didn't understand the dancing reference at all).

But it's nearly May Day - ish. (I wrote Mayday originally but I presume that's not quite the thing here )
