please help re picked onions.

my sliced picked onion have never been opened but have a sort of irridescent sheen on them, it's pretty but is it dangerous?

Nope didn't harm me either. Had a green bloom on the pickles in the older jars and mine were much firmer pickles (had crunch) unlike bought sloppy ones.
