Re: Is it Spring Yet?
It felt like spring in Jersey yesterday. Walking back from lunch across the field it was lovely and warm and I managed to walk through not one but two small clouds of flying midge type bugs (I was looking at the birds so didn't notice the bugs ).

Re: Is it Spring Yet?
my light Sussex have decided it is!
Just hoping the other hens will follow suit & then I can dust off my "Eggs for Sale" and the girls can start to earn their keep again!
Daffodils are starting to show their green bits here...

Re: Is it Spring Yet?
A lot of shrubs here have put on spring growth already.
There is a reason why the farmers are organising things so that lambs are born in November but I can't remember what it is. Is it so that the lambs are a bit more mature and not being born in the worst of the winter?

Re: Is it Spring Yet?
I do hope we've skipped Winter, but sadly I doubt it. My hunch is a cold spell towards the end of January, but I truly hope I'm wrong!!!
Is that your garden, Dr.Syn? (I thought you have chooks, but you've never mentioned sheep). It's a fantastic view. or maybe i should use

Daffodils are all popping up here, little birds skipping around like they know something I don't, hive of bees wide awake... It all seems rather out of sync where I am.

My first snowdrops are open and I've just cleared a mess of a flowerbed and I've got garlic chives, day lillies, tulips and aquilegias all shooting up.

Lambs are born to coincide with various selling opportunities - think lamb for Easter or Christmas. Or that was the case when I were a bairn on a farm.

Re: Is it Spring Yet?
Winter and spring have condensed into one, my various Broccoli's (Calabrese) that normally heart up in succession from December to April, all seem this year to be condensing into December and January. Anyone got any good recipes that call for lots of Broccoli?

Perhaps this is the start of a long summer to make up for the one we didn't have last year or natures way of taking that smug smile off our faces by sneaking in a sudden frost at the weekend. Hmmmm.
