New potatoes ?

Post: # 256766Post Odsox »

I have had volunteer potatoes sprouting in my garden since January which I left, but now that my this year's earlies are breaking through it's time I dug them out (to stop blight carrying over)
Anyhow, I found just about enough new spuds under them to make it worth while to cook, plus it's a first for me to have new potatoes out of the garden in March.
Just goes to show what happens when you don't get any frost.

Yes, the red ones are maincrop and the whites are earlies.
You can bet that if I had planted them on purpose in January we would have had all those sub-zero temperatures that you had.
Have eaten them now and can't wait for the tunnel ones to be ready, aiming at Easter Sunday for the first dig (not long now).
