herbs to pull out infection?

Post: # 26683Post moreenz »

Hi all, very new here, have a question someone may be able to help me with.

My son has a bump on his forearm. My husband says it feels as if there's something underneath the skin, and it's a little red and swollen, though definitely not infected. Actually looks like more of a swollen mosquito bite, but it's not going away. It's been there for at least a week, and my son (5 years old) says it's not really painful.

I'm wondering if there isn't some sort of herbal poultice I can make to possibly draw out whatever may be in there so we don't have to take him to the doctor and have it cut out -

Wondering if anyone has any ideas without actually knowing what it is for sure? Is there a general herb we can apply to it in a situation like this?

Thanks for any ideas!

Personally I'd take him to the doc just to make sure... or even the pharmacist... it may not need cutting out but might need a different type of treatment depending on what it is.....

Is there any sign of a puncture mark from an insect bite??? Could it be a splinter off something or other??

Horse fly bites can be like that, they get huge.Last year I asked the chemist and she recommended a cream for stings and bites which did the trick.

So long as the redness doesn't spread it's probably just a reaction to the foreign matter in the wound (sometimes little splinters of chitin come off when an insect bites). It's a bit late for treating really but if it's not bothering your son I'd just ignore it and keep an eye out. It should go down gradually.

If you want to hurry it along, hot compresses will help but it's not really necessary.

if there is a foreign body in there, try a single dose of homeopathic cina, if it irritates, epsom salts in a paste, if it doesnt go away, trip to the doc :D

Common Houseleek contains substances that are cooling so good for placing on inflamed skin or insect bites.
