My new garden/greenhouse

Hurray! We're finally in our new place...

This is most of the back garden:


Excuse the dogs pelting across it!

The greenhouse is huge and has a mature grape vine and about 15 tomato plants (Gardener's Delight) which we've had loads of fruit from already...

Next to the greenhouse is a vege bed, but its a bit overgrown at the moment, as the people who owned the house previously left it empty this year

To the left of the picture (unseen) is a small orchard (3 kinds of apples, damsons and an unfruiting peach tree), plus another shadier vege/fruit bed with rhubarb in...

Am very much looking forward to being able to plan next years' crops out!

wow what a wonderful looking place to be planning to use. What is growing next to the greenhouse? - Perhaps that little space could be used as a herb garden? I am envious of the weather vein on top of the greenhouse. and what an impressive looking greenhouse it is too.

Oh that looks really super. Loads of space and what a fantastic greenhouse! It's bigger than my whole garden.

Slightly in front of the greenhouse is a Japonica, and along the side are some sort of ferns...

The bed you can just see next to the ferns used to have potatoes in it at one point, and also carrots. We're definitely after growing potatoes and carrots, but I want to get plenty of useable herbs also...

We don't have to worry about having enough space to grow stuff, as we've also got a paddock/field about the same size as the garden at the back (I plan to have chickies on it!)

The greenhouse looks rather impressive from afar, however it's quite old, and we're going to have to find something to "stop the rot" as it were...

It has proper weights in to open the windows and everything!

I'm actually enjoying going outside at 6am to water my tomatoes every morning!

We're on the Lancashire coast... north ofg Blackpool and south of Lancaster

The people who were bought the house from were a retired couple - they had plenty of time to be in the garden - you could have used the lawn to play croquet, or golf!

Mind you, now we've had dogs charging up and down it and about 3 weeks without rain, it a bit more patchy!

The tomatoes are springing up, and I think I've even realised what was wrong with my grapes...

We had (have?) grape shanking...

No-one had thinned the grapes out, so I've ended up pruning at leat half the bunches off

The shanking happens, and lots of grapes go all shrivelled and brown whilst on the vine and then rot and drop off.

Since I've thinned out, I haven't seen anymore doing that, so fingers crossed we did the right thing!
