yep that anwsers the reason for your absence  I love this time of year when you can just walk up to your allotment and see the fruits of your labour - well done mate, I second that some photos would be nice. here is a link to mine bit too big to put up here.

I am gald to hear that I am not the only one who will have a lot less growing in the winter months although the leeks will keep you going  how many  actually now that I have read through your list again it seems like I am the only one without winter crops. My 6 struggling purple sprouting broccoli are no match. - what are radar onions???

I am going to plant some green manure this year at the end of the season I think, seems to be a cheaper way to get some nutrients back in the soil. Are you going to dig anything into your mate?

hmm will look out for Radar onions.

Green manure is basically something you can plant then dig in to add nutrients to your soil. stuff like mustard, red clover or alfalfa (how do you spell that)

shame you don't have a camera old chap would have been good to see it. Glad it all tastes good though.

Hey, Gunners, nice to have you around again.

Have a look at this. It's only a toy as far as cameras go, but will probably do decent enough pics for a forum. And it's only 8½ quid. Someone even shows some example pictures that one of these things can take if you follow the link from here.

In fact, even cheaper on Ebay.

We wanna see the results of all this hard work.

I thought I'd stick my allotment update here: today I built 2 compost heaps out of broken pallets I got from an organic food cooperative in Manchester. It doesn't get much greener than that!

Let's see if I can post a picture:

Did that work?

I also built a small fire using the scraps of leftover wood, and the kids had great pun poking it and feeding it for hours.

Good man! You'll have some fun with that, I bet.

I think it'll come with a lead, and any software needed to transfere the pics to your 'puter. When it's plugged into your computer, you'll probably have to open MyComputer or Explorer, and then look for something new - my camera appears as "Removable Disk" because it looks like an external disk drive to the computer. Click on it, and somewhere in it wil be your pics. If not, someone will know how to do it.

Don't expect them to be very big images on this sort of camera, but they'll be good enough for showing here. Further instructions for how to do that can be found in this thread, or post here for more advice.

well i was down early today 7amish,someone else was.i found a beer can on me allotment but could not find anything missing maybe a marrow i dunno.i like to get down early to keep an eye out obviously someone has got wind of this so i go a diffrent time again, i think turning up at diffrent times keeps the pilfering down inhouse or by other people outside.i picked about another 3lb or so of runners so enough for two meals, me like runner beans so does every one else!!. 3 marrows gave 2 away and i picked some more courgettes.(more you want more)picked french beans and watered well must do some weedeing but the weeds seem to be slowing down unless its my imagination.lol.the beer can could have been chucked there but i dunno people cut through there .but im please with me produce and i am getting the vast majority of it,

Gunners, this sounds like you could feed an army with those masses of veg you have...

I'm not quite that far on, but at least I'm selfsufficient in courgettes!

My sister lives on a sea front next door to a pub and often finds beer cans, plastic beer glasses and so on in her front garden. She's quite phlegmatic about it though, she just picks them up and throws them away, and reckons it saves her putting out beer traps for the slugs.

It might have just been someone filling up there slug traps! I doubt it though, I am happy that our allotment is so enclosed and off the beaten track.

Sounds like we are all off to gunners for a runner bean dinner
