I am currently buiding a bungalow on Westray in the Orkney Isles which will be off grid (too far from power supply).
I have about 6 acres so I am in touch with the bumblebee conservation society to turn most of it into a wildflower meadow. The rest should be for growing fruit and veg and ornamentals.

Very windy!!!!!!!!!!
Almost 24 hour sun in summer, what is sun in winter?
My soil ph is about 6 and soil not very good, been a cow pasture for years but not fertilized since I bought it.
Perfect for wildflowers, but not veg.
Rhubarb and gooseberries I am told will grow here, vegetables if I improve the soil.
Hebe, Fuschia and one or 2 other hedging plants may grow (Hawthorn/Blackthorn) and there are some willow species
up here that I will try.
