Cropredy festival

Post: # 29571Post Chickpea »

Will anybody be at the Cropredy festival? I'm leaving tomorrow but if you post soon I'll send you my mobile number and we can try to meet up.

I'll be quiet for a few days, back on Sunday!

One day I am going to go to Cropredy. And the Cambridge Folk Festival. And Womad (which, after all, happens only 500 yards fom my door).

I caught Richard Thompson live a few weeks ago, with the marvelous Danny Thompson on double bass. What a treat.

I'm back! It was a great festival. Steeleye Span were the highlight for me, also Dave Swarbrick. And if you get a chance to catch an Irish band called Flook I recommend them.

I was disappointed at how un-green it all is. Lots of diesel generators where PVs and wind turbines would have worked just as well, and no recycling facilities at all, just lots of great big bins for all types of rubbish mixed up, which must surely end up in landfill. I'm sure I remember there being separate containers for glass and cans in previous years, but not hits year. Definitely room for improvement.

Not so much "still" with them, more like with them "again", after a regrettable absence. They're much the better for it.

I spotted her on the field and had a quick chat with her. She was really nice.

I've seen Flook & also thought them fab. Big fan of Show of Hands too.

All you folk fans out there really should check out the Big Session Festival at Leicester's De Montfort Hall. It's in June & is effectively organised by the Oysterband, with loads of great folk bands/ singers/musicians.
