Hello from Aberystwyth

Post: # 30655Post Chambo »

Hello, just found this excellent forum. Theres so much useful info here.

Just moved to Wales a month ago, excellent place and lots of interesing people. Lots of free food about to. Been out this week in the rain and got 5lb of blackberries, a small puffball, some wild sorrell and what I think is a chicken of the woods fungus - although I dare'nt risk it. I also swapped some of those free low energy lightbulbs for a jar of honey and some tomatoes with a neighbour.

I;m after a canoe now to do a bit of riverside scavenging

Hi Chambo.

Have you been up to the Centre for Alternative Technology yet? The X32 bus from Aberystwyth to Bangor stops nearby.
Blackberries seem early this year? My plot neighbour has ginormous ones on the edge of his plot.
Thought we would have more tomatoes. I can still remember the masses of tomatoes my dad had growing in the greenhouse jungle and I loved picking them. However, the numbers outweighed those eaten and can also remember some in bowls going slowly rotten. There are only so many tomatoes you can munch (we never made chutneys, etc).
