After seeing it on Gordon Ramseys thingy my DH insisted on buying a crayfish pot and having a go in the local river. I grumbled coz he also bought a fishing licence and we are supposed to be on a tight budget. So I think my words were "You had better catch a lot of chuffing crayfish!!!"
So the following day and 3 kilos of american crayfish later, then the next day another 3 kilos and the pot went in again and we are collecting it tomorrow so it will have had a day and a half to fill. dontcha just hate it when you are proved wrong!!!!!
Apparently there is a real problem with the little swines in the surrey and hants canal and river system. All the better for our plates! 3 kg = 320g of meat and yes it was a fiddle but really worth it. I'm loving the free food bit! And what a learning opportunity for my wee boy he told everyone that passed how bad the big crayfish were coz o the fungus they carried which killed off the british ones!!!!!! bless
just had to share!
