Margarine Tubs (influenced by Milims)

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

Margarine Tubs (influenced by Milims)

Post: # 39363Post the.fee.fairy »

Milims was asking in a thread on RRR what to do with margarine tubs.
I realised that i haven't throw one away for about 2 years...

So...

1. Freezing stuff
2. Greenhouse tubs (seed/bulb storage etc)
3. Growing tubs generally
4. Plant saucers for things you grow in pots with drainage holes in the bottom.
5. Drawer separators
6. Stacking storage in a cupboard
7. Storage for toys/beads/barbie clothes and shoes/lego toys (keep complete kits together in a cupboard, or box)

Off you go...

Ideal for mixing up small quantities of polyfilla.

Good for holding water when painting watercolours.

If the lid is good you can store small quantities of water based paint - jam jars are better cos you can see the colour.

14. putting half a tin of beans, soup or whatever in. Saves using clingfilm (which should be banned in my opinion)

It is good to cover stuff in your fridge as excess moisture can make it run less efficiently.

If you know a young lady with a dolls' house you can paint one white and use it as a bath. The softer butter one looks just like an old fashioned roll-top bath.

Big square ones are good as jaccuzis.

Jelly moulds - yogurt pots are better. I always chose yogurts etc by what the tub will be useful for rather than what is in it.

Asda used to sell pate in little china bowls. They made brilliant cat food bowls.

21. Use small ones in the garage or shed to separate nails, screws, bolts, etc. Pierce the side with one of whatever is inside for easy identification.

22. We get 5 gallon ice cream tubs and use them under the sink to collect scraps for the compost. Empty once a week and rinse and no smell.

23. Poke holes in the side and keep ear rings separated, rings or pins on the inside. Glue coordinating fabrics on the outside for a fancier look in the bedroom/bathroom.

24. Fill with batting and sand, cover tightly with fabric and you have a pin cushion.

25. Not a nice one, but puke pots for kids in the car- the lid fits nice and tight to avoid spillage

Kind thoughts
Deb

ps the large ones rather than the fiddly little ones
