rhubarb wine

Post: # 41631Post red »

bottled my rhubarb wine tonight. its pretty good if I say so myself - very drinkable now! Definitely doing that one again.

I dont use camden tablets or anything of that ilk - steralise with hot water, very careful with cleanliness. so there was no eggy pong to my wine (as my grandfathers homemade wine always was), nice smell nice taste... yum! and in time for Christmas too.

the mead, I have racked off, and had a taste en route as you do, its not bad at the mo - but perhaps dry so added some sugar syrup and its working away again now, predictably.

What kind of flavour would you say your rhubarb has?
I started my wine making to late this year so missed the rhubarb. Hoping to make some next year.

the rhubarb tastes like rhubarb!

the wine is light with a rhubarb meets strawberry sort of flavour.

you could try blending some of it with a drier wine, if you have made any others.

or possibly, dividing it and adding more water.. let it work some more. but its a risk. On the other hand, if its undrinkable now.. not got much to lose.
