Yeah, it's a bit freaky. It whipped up a lot of stuff and destroyed a few roofs etc.

It's soooo windy here in the wild west too. No tornadoes here at the moment!

Very gusty here too - in the middle of England.
It blew my wheely bin down the street! A neighbour rescued it and returned it and said, "Ho ho, looks like somebody nicked all your rubbish though!"
I don`t think he believed me when I mentioned our `no waste` project.

I don't think any of our London Ishers live on that side of London so should be ok.

Yes - I'm on the other side of London. We still had some pretty heavy weather for ten minutes that morning though.

Whew, that's good!

On the newscast I saw it said that London is prone to tornadoes! How often does this happen?

I don't that it's any more prone than any other part of the British Isles. It's just when tornadoes hits buildings they cause damage, Birmingham, Selsey Bill are 2 other I know of.

Fujita figured that since Britain has an average of 33 tornadoes every year in an area 38 times smaller than the USA, you're twice as likely to witness a tornado here.

we also get hurricane force winds, but of course they are never hurricanes

We are also in the middle of yet another storm with flood warnings all stepped up again...8 to 10 cms of rain forecast for Scotland today

Rivers burst their banks last week and several are likely to again.
