Yule log

Post: # 43988Post Sarahcook »

Not sure this is the right place to post this, but I checked through all the other topics and I can't find one that fits, so....

Anyone out there celebrate Yule? My other half is pagan and was supposed to be celebrating it this year for the first time properly as he is now with a partner who encourages his beliefs (yay me!). However, he is on a stupid course ina stupid part of the stupid country and won't get back until stupid o'clock at night.

So I'm figuring the least I can do is a Yule log ready for him to do whatever it is he has to do with it. What sort of wood and how big should it be? Is it an indoor thing? We have an open fireplace which I was thinking we could maybe decorate up for the festival but as a card carrying God loving christian I have no idea about these things.

Any help and ideas would be greatfully recieved,

Sarah

That was really helpful, and demonstrates it as not being as entirely pagan as I thought it was. Just European!

Cheers for the info, I have discovered that if all else fails we can get Sky and watch a film of it instead. The same film has been used for a lot of years, thus only requiring the burning of the one log. Is this conservation and recycling at it's best?
