The bag thingies from inside a wine box

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

The bag thingies from inside a wine box

I'm sure they could be used for something!! I keep inflating them and wondering about creating a bath pillow!! Anyone else have any ideas?

blow them up to get the last dregs of wine out.. then yes.. use it as a pillow... good for festivals when you are lying on the grass listening to music.. with your head nestled on a wine scented pillow..

I like the idea of a pillow - ideal for use in the bath!

If they are the metalic silver type ones, could you chop the nozzles off to make bags, then stick one inside another to act as a 'thermos' then fill with ice and use as a portable ice bucket?

Or slit one open, join together to make a thermal blanket, or even a signal device for hiking?

ah yes but thats the beauty of these days - what used to be 'being tight with your money and sad' is now 'environmentally friendly'

could they be used for some kind of solar water heating apparatus (in a pinch...for wine flavoured water)?
Like the solar showers that use what seems like a bag thingy to heat the water up?

Space suit.

Space hat. Be very nice, eh?

Heck - go the whole hog and make space booties too.

Space Saver (freezer)

Ball for the dog.

Crab pot or pump float.

Spawn protector in pond/dam.

Fill with water and throw them in the boot (beats plastic bottles rattling about for when the radiator needs a top up)

Freeze and use in esky

Well I know how to get the wine out - but how do you get the water in?? ANd if you can put water in it would it be possible to use it to make wine in if you were using a concentrate?

That reminded me of reading something about the people that make tin-foil hats to deflect space rays/FBI mind control signals...the wine scented version?!

Re-enactors sometimes disguise them inside a leather pouch and use as a wineskin/watercarrier that the public doesn't point at and go "did they have those?". Proper wineskins and leather bottles are are somewhat expensive.

For more general use you could put one in a similar pouch with a carrying strap for when you are out walking.
