Although the subject has not, so far, come up on this forum, hubby and I are trying to resolve a boundary dispute with a 'grumpy old man' of a neighbour.
We have a photocopy of an aerial photograph taken by a firm called Vision Photographic, Clayworth Manor, near Retford, Notts.
We have not so far been able to find out anything about the company, particularly whether or not it is still in business. If it has ceased trading, we would be keen to know whether its archive was lodged somewhere.
I know this is well outside the remit of the Ish site, but we are hoping that some keen and kind isher in, or with friends or family in that area, may feel able to offer help in this particular matter. Many thanks, as always.
Long shot - anyone familiar with Retford, Notts?

I don't know that area but have you been in touch with your local council? Chances are they will have old maps fo the area, maybe with particular regard to housing etc, they may even hve the deeds to your house showing boundaries. Theres also the land registry - they may be worth a try. The thing is, these types of document are more legaly binding than a photo, especially if there has been adoption of areas of land over the years.
Good luck with your search

Thanks for your response, Milims. Good advice, which we had acted on months ago when this first showed its ugly head! It's quite surprising what you can find buried in various archives.
Sadly, our neighbour is NOT amenable to ANYTHING which does not accord with his 'Mr I Know My Rights' stance.
In recent months, we have obtained (at considerable cost to ourselves, I may add) three aerial photographs.
RAF 1946 Ordnance Survey (ie Crown Copyright) 1966 and 1972
All three were obtained via English Heritage and are formally certified and verified by those organisations, in the case of the RAF photo, even giving the sortie number.
The letter from our neighbour which arrived here yesterday says that we (and I quote!) "have provided three forged aerial photographs".
There is an old saying which goes 'there is none so blind as he who will not see'!
Now you will all understand why we are so desperate to track down this photographic company in Retford - they may well hold the key!
Thanks Muddypause - been a member there for a long time. Have taken a lot of the good advice given and can only hope that I have been able to offer support or advice to others in my turn. Until you're in the situation, you cannot imagine how stressful an event this becomes, but as yet another old saying goes 'experience is the greatest teacher'. Thanks for all replies, as always.
