Guilty of a Deadly Sin??

Post: # 52533Post Wormella »

I know generally we're all good, lovely people but sometimes we must all fall foul of one of the classic 7 'deadly' sins:

Pride, Wrath, Envy, Gluttony, Sloth, Lust / Extravagance and Greed.

So, own up - I'll start.

Today I am unjustifiably proud that I've made our three tier wedding cake, using a recipe fomr the 1948 edition of good housekeeping and working out converstions from imperial to metric - and have it all work.

next?

I don't see pride as a sin... WELL done you! When is the wedding Wormella??

Anyway... if pride IS a sin... then I'm guilty today too... proud because myself and two of the Neepsters (pauline and Paula) did some dejunking and rearranging... and general tidying of my kitchen and living room. Lots of paper to recycling... a dining table and ironing board to freecycle, and LOADS of space!! Proud... yes... TIRED... You bet!!! Really grateful to Kim and Aggie.. ermm I mean Paula and Pauline!

I love falling foul of gluttony. The wedding's on May 26th - giving it plenty of time to mature / be fed plenty of rum!

Anyone else?

OK here goes

PRIDE - that I am moving to a new house this weekend I am really excited and proud that we can afford it after doing up our last flat and making a bit of profit

WRATH - at my mother :angryfire: who is playing silly beggers (to long, and personal a story for the internet)

ENVY - When I see other ishers wonderfull veggie patches/ allotments/ gardens, and I haven't even started yet

GLUTTONY - Got a pizza delivered last night (well 2 pizzas, chicken dippers, potato wedges and some juice)- last chance to before we move out to the sticks - although feeling very guilty about it now

SLOTH - See above - also too lazy to finish packing, and on the computer instead

LUST/ EXTRAVAGANCE - I want a lovely shiney new washing machine - and I am getting one for the new house

GREED - see above plus want to grow lots of food in the new garden... to stuff my face with ... yummy yummy

Don't some of them kind of double up :?

Well I reckon I tick all the boxes there... and there will be a whole bunch of new ones next week I am sure.

What happens if you commit a deadly sin? :pale:

You prove you're human!

Me - Gluttony - sitting here eating a bag of Doritos after just wolfing down a sausage sandwich.

Greed - if anybody is chucking stuff out now they ask if I want it. I just can't say no!

Envy - as already mentioned.

Mind you it's a good job forgetfulness isn't a deadly sin or I wouldn't be here now.

Zoe

AAWWW!

No Brimstone and ash ?!?!?! or plauge of locusts or turning to a pillar of salt then? With the title of "deadly sin" I was expecting something far more interesting than that.

I suppose I had better just 'covet my nieghbours oxen' and be done with it

I have to confess to feeling really rather proud of my son this week - he's been chosen as one of 16 out of his entire school to go to the houses a parliament and meet and talk to the PM. It's as a result of his contributions to his citizenship classes. Not bad for a 12 year old!!!

I do think that avarice and calumny should also be classed as deadly sins tho!!

Does lust count as a sin if its as a result of having a gorgeous OH???
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Depends if your Catholic or not................I remember reading somewhere that (one of) the popes said that looking at your partner with lust is the same as committing adultery. That sort of takes the fun out of things.......
