Big Green Gathering Ish Meetup

Post: # 54844Post the.fee.fairy »

I'm going to organise an Ish meet-up for everyone going to BGG this year.

I've asked and got permission to paint the Ish flower on a big flag to put outside my tent. And, there'll be tea!

Anyone who wishes to meet up, please PM me a contact number nearer the time, and ill be texting people to see when and where will be best when we get there. I'm not too good at talking on the phone (too many distractions!!) and its quite scary talking to someone you've never met, so texting it will be!

The Ish Flag and my tent will be in camping somewhere, but not in quiet camping, for obvious reasons!

Bring along cakes/homebrew/teabags and we'll have a picnic!

Let me know if you're interested guys!

Not that I'll be going anyway - too far away for me - but do you realise that there are a lot of people who don't own a mobile, and don't want to own one, either, for a multitude of reasons - or even if they did, don't do texting? I'm one of those... So I would be excluded from meeting SSishers? I hope not!

Heartily agree, I've no idea how to do a text  but I'm sure that Fee can send emails or PMs too. I think everyone knows how they work! Well, OK, not my Mum, but....

Oh, i'm not meaning to leave anyone out!!!

I can e-mail people, if they wish to be e-mailed, and if they are likely to check their e-mails either just before BGG or during it, depending on when people contact me.

I didn't think of that...I just find that texting is the easiest way to get in touch with people, especially in the middle of a field!! But, i will check my e-mails when i get there etc, so people who want to e-mail instead will be fine, i'll try to set times the day before we all go (well, those who are going at the festival times - Weds to Sun).

I admire you for finding that easy... I once needed to own a mobile (was staying in a place with no landline, and was applying for jobs), and a friend sent me a text. It took me half an hour to send back "OK". Well, after that I realised it wasn't for me - I'd be faster going to her place and telling her in person!

I didn't realise they were still doing day tickets, there was talk of them only doing full festival tickets as the day trippers didn't have the right attitude  surely really greenies would have animals that couldn't be abandoned on a whim for merriment
my husband is self employed and didn't want to take to much time off - or doesn't want to go but he doesn't dare say so to my face  so I will check web site and get organised

I've just had a look at the site and there is no mention of day passes in the site shop - how much are they and which of the lovely shops at the Isle of Avalon will you be purchasing from Sal ?

1st-5th august Andy.

We're going by train from home to Richmond in London, and then on the BGG coach from there to the site on the 1st.

Don't quite know how we're getting home yet. my sister wants to stay in Glastonbury for a couple of days afterwards. She's in charge of sprting that bit out.

Talking of mobile phones, guess what?! I have won a mobile phone in a prize draw at our local mini market!

Not that I need another mobile, but my husband goes through them quite quickly as his is always attached to his belt (or ear!).

No idea on the price yet I just had an email from them a couple of weeks back saying that they were doing them again this year.

The contact for day tickets for BGG is Janetta and her phone number is 01458 834629, all we know is that about 4 - 5 shops in Glastonbury will be selling them. Hope this helps!

Well done M3.

I see that it is quite near to me in Bristol then. So if I don't make it there and anyone wants to meet for a drink (tea or beer) in Bristol afterwards then let me know.

I was there last year from 9pm on the Saturday to 1pm Sunday so would be good to stay a bit longer this year and see a bit more of what it's all about. Not been to a festival with Andy for around 15 years (we started young) and a local one seems ideal, hope to see you all there this year!
