Forget Me Not

Post: # 55780Post joholondon »

Does anyone know the story of how Forget Me Nots got their name? I've just done a bit of googling and come up with nothing, but I know there is an associated tale. (I've offered to do a storytelling/flower pressing thing at my son's nursery.)

Quite a sad tale that.
I'm sure I heard a different version. Something about someone actually being turned into a Forget Me Not. Some kind of punishment.

Reds version is the one I've heard as well.
Forget-me-nots are one of my favourite Flowers and I cultivate them here - not easy in a Spanish climate, but I get a wonderful display each year. They've just finished now and are going to Seed.
I put a posy of forget-me-nots on my nan's grave.

I've decided I'm going to make up a new version of the story!
Yes the Forget Me Nots are flowering here in London right now. I hope they keep on going until Monday week, when I'll actually be doing the thing in my son's nursery.
