Swimming ponds

Post: # 55817Post Thomzo »

Has anybody actually swum in one of these? I've always wanted my own swimming pool but thought that an outdoor pool in this country is a waste of time and an indoor pool far too expensive. But if this weather is going to continue then an outdoor pool might actually be worthwhile and a swimming pond would be much nicer/easier/greener than a concrete hole full of chlorine.

I know how they are made and how they work but I wondered if anybody has actually used one? If so, do they actually stay clean and, also, how big does it need to be if you want to use it for exercise?

Cheers guys.

i saw some on a website somewhere, and they were lovely!

There's a campsite in germany with a swimming lake, and i've swum in it a bit. It was nice. Once you get used to the slimey floor (algae) then its good. The second time i went, there were loads of freshwater jellyfish that were harmless and didn't sting, but they were a bit disconcerting! It was interesting to feel them tickling as they swam past!

Not with global warming. Might be quite handy... :?
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

Yikes. I've never heard of freshwater jelly fish! I've just googled them and found a picture. I gather they are usually quite small. I wonder if they live in this country at all?

They were really small, and really pretty.

I have no idea whether you get them here or not.
