101 things that make life amazing

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

Post: # 56994Post Andy Hamilton »

1. Selfsufficientish (of course  )

2,3 and 4. The obvious like friends and family and getting your first crop of the year.

14. The fact that a garden always gives back three times what you put into it.

15. A gift of flowers from a complete stranger. Last week, when I was in one of Hobart's main streets, a somewhat scruffy elderly gentleman walked up to me, handed me a bunch of orchids, then vanished back into the crowded street.

That is soooo cool!

I've often thought of doing the same thing, but I know it would only fetch me a beating from Mrs Wombat

sunsets and sunrises

seeing a shooting star

early morning frost on a clear sunny day (unless its a late one and will ruin your plants!)

feeling part of the local community.

when my son learns something he has had difficulty with for a long time, his triumphant face!

the colour of autumn

being witness to something special no one else sees.. like fox cubs playing or badgers out on the river bank...

coming in wet cold and tired to a log fire.

snuggling

40 - the age I just hit, the fact that I've got here in one piece and that I still feel 20-something
41 That just when you think life has all gone completely pear shaped and could never possibly get any better because its so awful- a miracle happens and you realise that things ain't so bad after all
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Germination. You just add water to these iddy-biddy seeds and get whole new plants. Amazing.

The seasons. Just when you're getting bored of the cold, along comes Spring. Then, when you need to cool down after a hot Summer, there's Autumn just around the corner.

The stars. Nuff said.
