Converting solar panel

Post: # 61110Post Ognen »

I have a solar panel which was intended for use withan electric fence but no longer needed for that purpose, I now want to hook it up and use it for powering a pump for the well, does anyone know what I have to do to achieve this aim? The one person I know that could help has selfishly left the country and returned to blighty, just when I need his expertise most!!

Thanks to anyone who can help.

First thought is that an electric fence is a very low load unless you have livestock with masochistic tendencies. This is pretty different from a pump which will often have a fairly hefty load particularly when starting.

Do you have information on the solar panel system, power output and voltage or manufacturer and model. Failing that a description and it's size will be enough for a guess. Is it stand alone panel or does it have a charge controller, battery or possibly even an inverter (mains output).

Do you have the pump already if so does it run on a low voltage supply or is it mains powered. If not how deep is your well and how much water do you hope to pump?

Hi there sorry for the delay I only get to the internet cafe once a week.

The panal is on top of the energisor which has a 12v battery. When fully charged it can run for 5 days. It doesn't have a convertor.

We want to pump from 7mts and want to water well an area 7mts x 70mts. I haven't bought a pump yet.

Thanks for answering. I will write down anything that is written on the energisor which may help and post next week.
