Dish cloths/cleaning rag
I make mine from cotton crochet string.
On 5mm needle cast on 40 stitches then knitt plain stitch for 40 rows or until you feel it's the size you need cast off.
I make them whilst watching T.V with my son and they are great I just put6 them in the wash as normal and they last for ages.
Great gifts as well

Yep I´m with Red, though did make me think that if you knitted with sisal string and folded over, sewing up the two sides you could make a good body mitt!

My mum taught me how to knit dish cloths when I was a kid and they always seemed to last for ages - so now I'm on the verge of encouraging my daughter to knit them - if I can get hold of some decent string!!
