my mouser is a moler
my cat has presented us with two huge dead moles. I had no idea they got that big - we are talking about 6 inches from nose to tail - nice looking things so a bit of a shame.. on the other hand, maybe we wont have so many molehills in the fields?

I'm sure you could hire out your moler for lots of money - they are a blimming plague in some places!
Just been thinking about this - why are the moles in places where your cat can get at them? Are you in an area that's been affected by floods? My cat used to catch mice and rabbits by the dozen (or hundred - stopped counting pretty soon!), but never came home with a mole...
Or is your cat a secret digger?

no - we are not in flooded area here - too high up.
dunno how he is catching them - but it's definitely Ebb who is catching them - left one in his food bowl! he is a fantastic hunter (
)
can only imagine he waited until they were near the surface?
will consider charging out for his services
we have some massive molehills in the sheep field though - not sure his work is done here yet...

Yep, stuffed mole! From memory, the recipe involved stuffing the mole with apples, thyme, breadcrumbs, onion and a few other things. Then casseroling it in the oven for a considerable length of time. Never tried it myself!Wombat wrote:More death and destruction......*sigh* ..................ah well into the pot!![]()

The same (very old) book had a recipe for mole with hazelnuts, but I can't remember more than that.

Well, crocodile isn't bad, and snake can be quite tasty. Dog is eaten in some places, of course. And I read recently that someone in Australia has been serving up feral cat stew. Having shot a few feral cats, I wouldn't advise eating one as they are generally covered in fleas and ticks, and are probably rife with worms as well.red wrote:I wonder what mole would tast like?

And as you say, moleskin does make a very fine leather. There's an article in The Field about making a moleskin waistcoat.

Well my cat seems to have another new weapon in her armoury. I picked up her basket on Saturday and underneath it was a squashed flat mouse
She's already managed to drown one mouse but to pick up her basket and drop it ontop of a mouse to squash it is quite some feat!
I am also discovering just how difficult it is to type with her head resting on my hands. It's a good job I can touch type as I can't see the keyboard for fur
