A greener halls...

Post: # 72259Post Super.Niki »

Ok guys, I've just moved into my halls of residence at uni (go De Montfort, Leicester!) and I have issued my flat with gifts, a nice strong box for glass (curtosey of Dell.. well they didn't want it back!) and I got them a nice box for paper! The other 2 bins in the kitchen are now labeled (with post-it notes... I know... the shame) for plastics and any other waste.

We also now have herbs growing in the window! :-D

The union was selling "how green is your bag?" bags (along with Fair Trade De Montfort hoodies... might have to get one of those!)... so we're using them for shopping now and none of us drive so it's walking (or cycling for me!) and busses for all of us!

determined to make it the most eco-friendly flat in the halls as much as possible within the contract! :D
Any other ideas?

Good luck! It's quite difficult being green in halls of residence, so good on you!
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

Good for you.

You might want to think about investing in some good, thick lined curtains. If your windows aren't well double glazed then lined curtains will help to keep the heat in. You can also keep them closed on a hot day to keep the heat out. At the end of the year you can take them down and move them with you.
