What are you doing...

Post: # 75341Post Annpan »

Besides reading this. I thought it might be fun to get a mental picture of how people live.

Where are you?
I am sitting cross-legged on my bed

What can you see around you?
My bedroom, which is a bit messy (by my standards) a pile of home renovation books and magazines, E's dolly, a heap of 'half clean clothes'

What can you smell?
Lavender EO, I have just put some on my face (I have some spots  ) Though there is the faint whif of henna that I dyed my hair with the other day, cor it stinks.

What can you hear?
The end of Mark Lamarr's regae show on BBC radio 2, oh, it's the news now.

Who is with you?
The OH is sitting on the edge of the bed listening to the news, he is just about to go downstairs to get dinner.

Where are you?
sitting in front of my desk, in our spare bedroom.. which isn't a bedroom at all but is my and OH's work space as we both work partly from home, as well as the future craft room etc.. currently dumping ground.

What can you see around you?
behind me is a towering heap of boxes of stuff not yet unpacked (we have been here a year now) to my left is the work area of my desk.. big heap of paperwork, a cup with no handle full of pens etc some cups.. behind the screen is the wall with some truly bad wallpaper.

What can you smell?
cold coffee. I really ought to take some of these cups away.
What can you hear?
the hum of the both of our pcs., the tapping of my keyboard as I type this! its the end of the day, the rest of the house is switched off.
Who is with you?
himself, also having a last surf before we head to bed..[/quote]

Where are you?
sitting in my uni room cross legged on my pooter chair...

What can you see around you?
hehe everything because this room is SO SMALL!!!! Actually, my speakers directly in front of me (playing: Alice Cooper - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting - Life & Crimes live)... my TV...my new music book "folk Songs Of The British Isles" which I LOVE!...a HUGE pile of "maybe" clean "maybe" dirty clothes on my bed, my guitars (doby and AliceRoxie) and my mandolin is also out (TonyPee) (yes, they ALL have names!!)... and Jai Jai (my lil cuddly cheetah teddy that's been looking after me for the past week!)...apart from that all I can say is "toot"!!!...oh yeh... and lots of work that I've done for uni *cough*yeah right*cough* :angel4:

What can you smell?
*ashamed face*Cadbury's Dairy Milk Whole Nut (I know... I'm running away behind a corner right now... but Green and Blacks is expensive!!!) and Cherry Champa air freshener (thanks Fee!)

What can you hear?
Ryan Roxie playing an awesome guitar solo in Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting (Alice Cooper!).... apart from that people rolling in after partying tonight! :D
....oo hang on it's just changed - Hey Listen - 3 Daft Monkeys (I know... I have a weird taste in music!)

Who is with you?
No-one... geesh thanks for reminding me! Bloke's being boring and gone home early!
If I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.

Where are you?
I'm at work, in an office with grey walls, and grey magic eye carpet.

What can you see around you?
Opposite me is Paul, next to me is John. In front of me is my overly decorated computer, with Dopey, and some tinsel on it (its halloween tinsel).

What can you smell?
Stale water...I think that my vest top that i've got on under this top was left in a bucket for too long after being in the tumble dryer. It usually comes out damp, and i can smell the damp.

What can you hear?
General working noises - people, computers, air conditioning

Who is with you?
No-one really, but everyone at the same time...

Where are you?
In the hayshed with the OH's wireless laptop.

What can you see?
Bales of straw stacked to the roof behind me, kids trikes and fencing materials to the left, sacks of tatties and bags of onions piled up in front of me, bins of grain and veg beyond them, exposed stone walls to the right. I'm waiting for the hot porridge of potatoes and barley to thicken up a bit more before feeding the weaners.

What can you smell?
Straw, dirt, boiled potatoes, barley, onions, and something dead - probably a mouse or rat.

What can I hear?
Snuffling and grunting from Doris and Daisy in the byre next door. Hum from the light. Occasional splatter of rain on the roof. The odd demonic shriek (see below).

Who is with you?
Two boys hurtling in and out between rain showers. It's quite dark so they're busy scaring each other.

At home, in front of the pooter, under the stairs

What can you see?
The underside of the stairs and my much need glass of wine!! (I'm ignoring the my flat pack kitchen that's still in boxes and will be for the forseeable future while we battle with homebase for the missing six units!! )

What can you smell?
Nag Champa and plonk!

What can you hear?
My OH passing comment on the skinny women with aweful dress sense in this months Red mag - which I haven't looked at yet!!
And Willow my Turkish Van cat who meows like a rusty old dumper truck!

Who is with you?
My lovely OH - still passing comment!! And the aforementioned dumper truck!!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

What a fantastic idea!

Where are you?
On the sofa in the sitting room with my laptop on my lap.

What can you see around you?
A rose in a wine bottle cos I haven't got a vase; the top of the coat stand reflected in the mirror; some bedding crumpled on the futon; a photo of me and my best friends from uni on the wall; piles of shoes by the front door; the scary-man CD rack; general junk.

What can you smell?
Christmas cake baking!

What can you hear?
The rubbishy-looking film the bf is watching!!

Who is with you?
The bf, and his cold germs. *Takes another slurp of orange juice*
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

Where are you?
In the corner of my sitting room.

What can you see around you?
Camera on table (I've just been downloading some photos), my teddy bear collection and basket containing old wool jumpers ready to be cut up for a hooky rug.

What can you smell?
The remains of tonights curry, I haven't washed up yet.

What can you hear?
The hysterical giggles of four teenage girls, daughter is having a sleepover and they are galloping up and down stairs as I type. Plus News 24 in the background, hubby is trying to catch up with the news.

Who is with you?
Four teenage girls, other half, three dogs sitting so close to the 'puter chair they are bound to get run over with the wheels when I get up.
Magick happens

Where are you?
Sitting in the armchair in my living room with one leg tucked under the other (so I won't be able to walk when I stand up), and the laptop on my lap. Normally I'd be on the sofa but I haven't been able to get the wireless connection to work since it last crashed  so I've had to move the armchair within the wire's length of the modem.

What can you see around you?
TV in front of me. On top of it are some sample wedding invitations that I've made for a friend. I hope she likes them as I'm making her invitations for her wedding present.

What can you smell?
Nothing as I, too, seem to have a cold.

What can you hear?
Whate ever rubbish is on the TV. I may have to stop in a minute to change channels.

Who is with you?
Jemima, my long haired tortoishell cat. She is stretched out over half the sofa fast asleep. Jade, my ginger and white tabby walked through the room just now and I've just heard her go out the cat flap.

sitting at the kitchen table, laptop in front of me - TV burbling away in the distance...........(oh right, Michael Fish says there'll be no hurricane..........!)
In the semicircle on the table starting at the left we have............empty chai glass, ash tray, salt cellar, ashtray - AA battery charger, inkjet topup kits - digi camera, baccy and lighter - DAB radio, tibetan singing bowl containing webcam and card reader (don't ask)- one small dog crashed out in front of Rayburn, one skulking in the bedroom, cat on 'er indoors' rocking chair........washing drying above Rayburn on Victorian "haul up" airer
(oh lor, just looked behind me at the most cluttered dresser EVER.......it'd take weeks to list........inverters, chargers, controllers, wireless router I picked up for £2.......) - good lord, oak chips for the smoker I've never used!
Smell? - that'd be the seven enormous cloves of garlic I cooked alongside my steak tonight (and consumed with relish)
Hear? - bl**dy Edwina Curry......(switches swiftly to Newsnight....
...oh Chief Rozzer bent as a corkscrew......what a surprise!) :geek:
Who? - me, the dogs and cat ('er indoors is visiting her sister for a few days)................peace, perfect peace.................(well, until I let the dogs out for a pee that is - it's either badgers, vixens or pheasants that wander round the garden at night - the dogs disappear barking their heads off, scattering whatever it is........) :dave:
And for those in the frozen wastes - this afternoon it was shorts and shirtsleeves weather down here in Sussex :cooldude:

In the dining room/control centre, surrounded by computer and paraphanalia.
Bubbles looking thru window, the cat hasn't been fed for an hour.
In the leafy background outside, a bird feeding station on top of the shed.
No smells that I can smell, so must be me :-))
Radio 2 Ken Bruce, just told a joke, 8 venisons legs for sale £10, would that be two dear.
Groan.
