thought this might be a good idea, all you kiwis, share and tell what you are planting out now that we are heading into our winter! I am planting 100 garlic cloves, 60 bulbs to eat, 20 for next years stock and 20 failures. I have just planted some trays of salad greens and have plenty of brasicas in, that are slowing down in growth now. I have planted a green crop of oats too. I am in the naki by the way! Look forward to hearing what you are up to. Also we are just about to build a chicken tractor for two chickens...can't wait!!!

Well, I am in the deep south, so it's a bit late for most stuff here. I will plant garlic (regular and elephant) on the shortest day, and have broccoli, cauli, brussels sprouts and silverbeet standing at the mo'. Also planted mustard, broad beans and lupins as cover crops/green manure. Sounds more impressive than it all is, we're really not eating much from it just now. Must get better prepared next Autumn...

That is a good reminder, I need to get the garlic in. I am also still digging up and will be replanting the jerusalem artichokes. I am also going to try sowing various other stuff to start off inside.
I also have currant sticks and raspberry canes growing in pots in the garage and various herb cuttings
Opinionated but harmless

Broad beans from seed, cabbages; two lots one from seed, "brightlights" silverbeat, sweedes from seed, beetroot from seed, white radishes from seed, cauliflower from seed, lettuce from seed, carrots frm seed and long storing onions from seed. All up baring the carrots and onions so far. Will plant leeks, purple onions and turnips as soon as my stitches are taken out of my back and i can dig again
