Re: IBS? (tmi in places)

Yep I have it too - started v. mildly about 10 years ago to pretty damned unpleasant a couple of years ago. I have triggers that took years to find out what there were - worst are commercial breads and biscuits and cakes - I have to bake everything with organic flour. Wine consumed too often and sug...

Re: I need to scream!!!

Oh poor thing you must feel so frustrated and mad. Is it too soon to think about your next step? Have you contacted the farm lady to see if she'll hold it for you?

Re: what are you sowing?

That is something I've noticed with Habanero that we grew a couple of years ago - no heat - I think they need near equator temp to get them that hot. I try every year though but am wondering if it really is worth it.

Straw is perfect, but I'd keep him inside your house until you get a lamp.

Re: Hatching eggs

I wouldnt bother, if they've only been in a car as opposed to being tumbled by the postmen there shouldn't have been too much disturbance.

I have a broody hen who hatched out 9 chicks 6 weeks ago! Boy was she early, both mum and chicks are doing well.

Good luck!

Re: Duckling Dilema

OK first thing - is he still fluffy yellow or have some of the feathers started to grow in? If fluffy, he'd be better with a little warmth like a brooder lamp or at a push an ordinary lamp suspended above a warm dry area with lots of straw/hay. Ducklings can be weaned off a lamp much earlier than ch...

Re: what are you sowing?

I don't seem to have much luck with aubergines either. But I'm going to sow some chili peppers, salad leaf, leeks, herbs etc in a minute :flower:

Re: I'm bored!

Wow, thanks Maggie and Bryony I didn't think they were that good. I shall definitely be investing in one and thanks for the tip re a 'medical' model I shall look into that. The sun is shining this morning and I'm busy with chicken sheds and shall be sowing some seeds later in the day - feeling quite...

Re: Chicken query

Oh they sound lovely. They will get the hang of the nest boxes, presumably you've given them a perch to sit on? Course you have. Just let them settle it, they'll be fine.

Gawd, thats a thought though, the first poisoning case and then we'll all be banned from making any kind of health cure - maybe somethings should just be kept away from the masses perhaps

Re: I'm bored!

Just what I was thinking about Maggie, I know S.A.D affects me because I'm a different person in April, then change in November. I said to OH this morning I need a light box, they're quite expensive though aren't they? I have in-laws who (bless 'em) want to help with the croft when they visit - we e...

Think I got them going in March last year and still never managed to harvest any, maybe I should just grow them indoors.
