Ah sorry its a top bar hive and we are talking about bees!
This has nothing to do with the kind of bars you have. In my opinion.

Re: Bee Stock for Top Bar Hive
I have never cached a swarm in such manner ( with a bait box). It can happen but rarely IMHO. I suggest you to locate a nearby beekeeper and talk to him about this. Beekeepers are ussually friendly and like to help people into the hobby. You can also build a tbh which can also use frames. So called ...

Re: Bee help for a colleague
Hi there, bee people, I've had a question from a colleague (below), I hope you can help because my knowledge of these things is a bit lacking in the detail: "I’ve bought a little beehive for my dad and I’m looking to get him a queen bee- but haven’t a clue what you need to do or how to keep th...

Contadino. I am glad that you enjoy your TBH. I could argue with you on most of the points you made, but what is the point? You have made your choice. No need for me to dispute your findings. Do you enjoy your bees? How many times do you inspect them ? Is there lot of nectar sources, what are your m...

Re: Bees anyone?
Wow. Fantastic, I just wrote a long post about my experiences with bees in TBHs and the whole post was lost. :( The whole thing boils down to the fact that bees are bees wherever you keep them. In a pot, cardboard box, chimney or a beehive. If you prefer a chimney to a skep or a national hive to a d...

Re: Bees anyone?
Anyway, its best to focus on bees not on wooden boxes where we keep them. They tend to do their thing wherever they are. Choose your type of box. Most important is to know about life of the bees. You can not learn too much about bees. Fascinating creatures.

Re: Bees anyone?
I've always fancied bee-keepin but have been put off by the initial set-up costs. Plus, its hard enough to find someone who'll look after the lizard if i go away....never mind a swarm of bees  How much Honey could one hive produce? What kind of maintenance would they require once the hive was ...

Re: Bees anyone?
I would love to try my hand with bees. I live in the Central Valley of California so the season is quite advanced here. I have the understanding that I should start with the actual bees in early spring but what should I do now to be ready then? DeneciePie Yes I would agree that it is probably to la...

Bees anyone?
If somebody here is interested in keeping bees, I am here and willing to share my (few years of) experience. Beekeeping would be ideal for urban dwellers and others who are willing to experiment with agriculture and yet don't have much if any land and other resources. You can keep bees almost anywhe...
