I am so pleased you are all out there recycling furniture and using it in different ways. Thanks for all the ideas. What I have thought of doing is attaching a working top lower down and running a rail under it for hanging clothes and maybe the curtain ideas to hide. Then I will be able to use the w...

I know I cant believe how useful it is. I have always disliked very tall bedroom furniture and would prefer to source low level but can find none anywere on the net. I may look into having something built in. I am now desperate for deep drawer chest of drawers but the budget is tight at present and ...

We have not seen any second hand solid woo...

Yes you are quite right. I suppose even if each unit had a composter toilet, wind power or solar power for electric and plumbing for grey water for washing etc the cost would still soar somewhat and even if there were so many small units on the land to offset the cost it would then become a developm...

Thread about building houses for 4,000 pounds

I have always watched the television programme Grand Designs god knows why as I do not aspire to most of the buildings. However the one that was built for the Woodsman in the woods had me drooling. Would it be feasible to lay a food trail to a more manageable spot away from your polytunnel. If you all brought food when you go to the allotment it would give you some breathing space to decide on the best course of action.

Hi Im new on here, but would like to say I have used a pressure cooker for the last 32 years and would not be without one. It is great for making stews etc. And our gas consumption went down as it is so quick. I think once you start using one it would be very hard to go back to pans steaming for hou...

Found you all at last

I joined here just after I downsized into a GF flat but due to all the work we had to do and other problems I have not been able to come on site to chat. Also much to my embarrassment I had forgotten my username and although I have been reading most of your threads and really enjoying them I have on...
