Re: jam sugar v granulated sugar

I made an elderflower jelly (wibble wobble jelly, not a spread for toast) with cordial. If you wanted an elderflower jelly have you considered adding a cordial to your apple juice for the flavour? far easier than faffing with the flowers that can cause all kinds of havoc. as to steeping the flowers ...

Words fail me Woah! a career in the armed forces is a choice! plus they shoot at people too! yes lives are lost but every single member of the armed forces knows the job they are getting into, they know the pay they will receive. They are not forced to do it. I hate all t...

Re: Attitudes towards thriftiness

Oh jeez yes! I've had it here. Seen as cheap, tight-fisted because I'd rather take a packed lunch than spend ridiculous amounts on bad food. But it goes across the board. You can't shop in charity but "vintage" shops are OK - Its the same frelling thing! (admittedly 'vintage' shops are sup...

Re: And I'm still laughing......

They do that with packs of egg noodles too. cheaper to buy several smaller packets. Its why I shop online more for store cupboard foods now. easier to spend time working out the cost with out small boy kicking up a fuss.

The last two have left me in tangles as the guides I've read so far have been pretty rubbish. The st...

and those frelling second home owners Do I detect a Farscape fan? One of my favourite scifi series. Me too - thought I was the only one! If I could drag you all off your soap boxes for a second (safety nets in place) and ask you guys if you think Wales is a viable prospect? Yes, I am a Farscape fan...

Lavender plants are pretty good at keeping away flies and such. Ive found any pungent herb (thyme, rosemary, lavender etc) good for insect deterrent. I scar very badly when bitten so use all sorts to keep mozzies away.

Re: Your idea of what is frugal?

But it has entered our collective psyche that we MUST be contactable. In the past people left messages, or made arrangements that they stuck to or used their common sense to deal with things. But this way is much more profitable for the 'phone companies  Gah! I hate that! Its like facefail...
