That's one reason I'd like to try them shanging straight down--I expect the weight of the fruit would break the branches if I let them scramble over the sides of the pot, like normal hanging baskets. I just really really hate staking... (and bugs.)

The ones I see for baskets are all small- microtoms and whatnot. I'd like to at least get a sliceable tomato, if I can't have beefsteak...

tomato idea-perhaps a silly one?

Do you suppose it would be possible to grow tomatoes out of holes in the bottom of window boxes? I'm thinking of ways to maximize space in the glasshouse, and to get out of staking all together. I wouldn't try it with the giant sandwich tomatoes (Parks Whopper and the like) but I would think smallis...
