Nasturtiums, wild garlic, babington leek, land cress (might be a bit too dry in Spain for this). I've always wanted to try pignut, Conopodium majus, but have never found any in quantity to harvest. I don't know how you'd get them started but a small colony of those might be productive. Sorrel, diffe...

We grew chickpeas a few years back on the allotment. They grew beautifully and needed little support but the pods were empty. Don't know what happened there but the seed was just a handful of peas from the larder. Soyabeans grow quite well here and can be harvested for edamame when green so no need ...

We still have lots of pumpkins and squash. Finished the onions last week. Still have some spuds but they are not really edible. And pickles and jam - I'm not making anymore until we finish the stuff from 2003, mostly pickled cucumbers and blackcurrant jam. The freezer is full of geriatric red and bl...

Actinidia/Kiwi Fruit
Don't know if anyone can help me with this, but I bought a female kiwi fruit vine last year thinking I would 'marry' it to a cutting of my seed raised male plant. The trouble with that is the boy is a huge grower and would take a lot of space up unproductively. Does anyone know if the hermaphrodite ...

Growing the baby plants from seed is fine if you can keep them from getting overheated and in plenty of light. They are quite hardy so should be hardened off quickly and planted out as soon as possible (if you're in the UK). Firm them into the soil and put a little collar around the stem to discoura...

Thank you all for your welcomes. Those links look useful, thanks also for those. When I've built one I'll take pictures to show and give you my results but after a fantastic Easter break where we had hot sun every day for a week in France the weather has become exceedingly cloudy and gray. Might be ...

Hello all, Have been watching you for some time now and finally plucked up courage to come into the water. My self sufficient efforts mainly revolve around growing things, plant things, to eat and I do it on a farm in Normandy but sadly I'm not resident there all the time yet so I also have a 'town'...
