Plan & install a CH System

Hey all. This is gonna be long winded, so bear with me. We recently moved into an old farmhouse in Aberdeenshire. There is an oil Rayburn in the Kitchen which does the hot water. So well infact that we need to run off hot water a few times a day orelse the hot water tank starts boiling. And it goes ...

Re: Rowan - the raw facts

Although the Rowan was considered by some as protection from faeries, others say that faeries love the tree and will go out of their way to seek it out. Some even say that anyone harming a Rowan tree runs the risk of faeries seeking revenge by causing illness.

Re: fisrts attempt at wine

I tend to leave mine in the Demijohn for at least a year, racking every 3 months. They say that wine matures better in larger volumes. And it also means that fermentation is definitely over. I leart my lesson when i had bottle corks and streams of Ginger wine sailing over my head one night whilst i ...

I am coming through Calais, and was wondering whether anyone knows of any places that sell cheap Vinaigriers. None of these bloody £40 thin...

Re: Wine vinegar

Anyone in the UK got a piece of a mother that they are willing to part with? (* of vinegar that is, not * in law. ) I've had some wine and some Organic Vinegar in a pot for 6 months, and although it smells of vinegar, there is no mother forming. Would prefer red, but Cider or white would be a...

Re: proud of my mushrooms!

That's a nice sized 'shroom.

As an aside. Has anyone tried to start growing shrooms from shop bought shrooms? The Enoki and Brown beech 'shrooms from the local store still seem to have a root system.

Re: Quittin' Smoking

She said she enjoyed it. Not that she gained a benefit from it. Just because you do something doesn't mean that it has to have a benefit. And visa versa. I know what she means. I enjoyed smoking. I enjoyed the taste, and the smell of the smoke. I stopped cos of the cost. And don't start on the "...

Re: Dried Elderflowers for Champagne - yeast?

I would say leave it for another week, and then check if you have any gas build up. If you do, fine, just leave it. If you still don't, you may want to add a bit of yeast.

Re: Quittin' Smoking

Had my last cigarette at 5 minutes to midnight on new Years eve. Nothing since then. Yes i get the odd craving. Doesn't help that the OH still smokes. I just decided i was tired of being out of breath at the top of a flight of stairs. Plus, in our current financial climate, the £££ was a big factor ...

Hope you and yours all have a good one.
The elderflower champagne and beer is ready. Homemade pud is ready, the spuds and sprouts have been gleaned, all i need now is a roadkill pheasant, or else it will be a bought chicken.
