home for the weekend:

We were the only pointy tent in a sea of those little bubble things. the field filled up in the two hours after this pic was taken.

mmmmm, drying wet stuff, both rained-on and hand-washed due to sophie's accident...:

"did you bring pegs?" "nope. but I have my sewing kit." "what use is that?!"...

"mummy, I cooooold"

How to heat a freezing tent; the one tip I will give about this method is to uncover the air vents on the sides of the sungas stove. The surround is made from off-cut of a fire guard, wrapped in thick foil. it's a wind break for the stove for use outside the tent, but it was so cold this weekend it didn't really get used. the stove is sitting on an upoturned thick plastic box, topped with more foil. the windbreak then had yet more foil put over the top as a sort of reflector for the heat. this worked surprisingly well and warmed our bedroom up quite nicely.

Sophie, hoever had her own method of keeping warm in bed; duvet, fleece blanket and daddy's coat, all pulled up so all we could see was her hair.

Yeah! That's my kinda trip....even in the rain, I loves camping. We're off to Ullswater in July (we shelved Skye due to my pregnancy - I need the reasurrance of being fairly close to a hospital as my pregnancy so far has been anything but normal...) and I can't wait.

Hope you had a lovely time, MrsF.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.
