Deaf Chook?

One of my chickens fell ill a couple of weeks ago. She could not move her leg or wing on one side. Would not drink or eat. There was no discharge or signs of disease and no sign of distress or pain, so I fed her every hour with a syringe for 4 days, expecting her to die any minute but she survived and recovered.

However, she appears to be completely deaf now. She is walking and eating fine but cannot hear anything and is quite startled if she suddenly notices you up close.

I am wondering if she had a stroke and thta she has suffered brain damage? Can chickens have strokes? And if anyone else has had a similar experience?

I am not sure if they can have a stroke but I have had a hen before that showed all the signs of one. Don't know if she was deaf or not, but she could not stand properly and did a beak dive every time I let her stand on her own. I think if they cannot have a stroke in the technical sense, then there must be a poultry equivalent. I dispatched my one, because she could not stand unaided.

It reminded me though of the two old ladies sitting on the park bench enjoying the sun. A flasher jumped out of a nearby bush and opened his raincoat revealing all. One of the old ladies had a stroke. The other could not reach.

Mines fully recovered (apart from deafness) and can walk properly and flap her wings etc. I thought it may be a stroke cos it only affected 1 side of her and she did not seem to be in any pain, hence why I did not top her.
