Hello all,
I have a carrier bag full of old cables, various power adapters, PC wiring (network cables, mice, etc.), kettle leads, that kind of thing. I have no use for any of them but don't want to throw them away. I was wondering if anyone had ideas for the best place to recycle them.
I think most of the wires are still fine for their purpose, I just don't need them and I'm trying to declutter. I can't imagine that many people on freecycle or ebay are going to want 10 1/2m network cables for example, or a 6v power adapter. Maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks,
Ben

I would definitely try your local Freecycle first - its amazing what some people want! Otherwise there might be a special bin at your local recycling/tip ?

Re: Recycling wires
Your local tip probably has a section for electrical items. You can stick it in there.
I liberated a whole load of cables when I was closing down a computer company and used them for all sorts of things around the garden. Network cable is great for training vine fruits for instance. Thinner cable for tying in.

Re: Recycling wires
Telecom wire can be used to earth electric fences. I have also just repaired five bamboo garden torches with the very thing phone wires x, it is also good for using as plan ties and the stuff that is used for running cable TV from pole to pole is great for creating supports for tying tomatoes to (can you tell OH works for a telecoms company?).
