Not really alternative...

Post: # 128235Post ina »

... but a question as to energy prices - or rather, the way companies deal with price rises.

Have just received a letter from my electricity supplier (Scottish Hydro), dated September 2008, although I didn't receive it until mid October, announcing that they have to raise their prices by 19.2% from 25 August 2008. Now I'm not quibbling about the price rise - it was long expected; but how can they say "we will have to raise prices from August", when in fact that date is almost two months ago? Aren't we supposed to know in advance what price we have to pay for whatever goods/services we get?

Confused in Scotland. :?

It's scary! I took out the Scottish Gas price freeze deal a couple of years ago - it lasts until next year. I dread to think what the hike in my bill is going to be!
I sympathise! :pale:
