101 good things to come out of recession

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

89. As more people may walk instead of driving 1/4 or 1/2 a mile, I will meet more of my neighbours :mrgreen:
90. Local shops will stay in business and may even post 'skill swap' notices in their windows.
91. Freecycle will be the norm before throwing away unwanted items

95. There has already been a marked reduction in the amount of junk mail coming through the letter box - adverts from estate agents and take-away pizza companies, property papers, carpet cleaning companies, offers for loans and credit cards...
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

97. If those who currently waste food stop doing so then there will be more food for those who are currently starving.
98. If there is enough food to feed everyone, GM research will become redundant.
99. Aha - one for those of us who are allergic to perfume - if people can't afford perfume or aftershave, maybe they won't inflict it on everyone by spraying it all around the office or wearing so much of it that it sets off other people's allergies.

100. Offices (heck, anywhere!) might open the windows instead of having the air conditioning on.

101..... Boy racers won't be able to afford the little square things they call 'cars'.... with their huge exhaust pipes & leds..... and peace will reign in car parks throughout the country!!
